Suissly
Founded in 2016 in Santa Barbara, CA, Suissly aimed to break into the emerging “bed-in-a-box” industry. The goal was simple: deliver a quality mattress right to your doorstep, allowing you to skip the grueling process of laying on bed after bed after bed at a mattress store.

The execution of said goal? Much less simple.

I was hired on to give Suissly a brand to help set them apart in an increasingly crowded space. One of the biggest challenges with Suissly was competing with larger companies with larger budgets, larger teams, and more resources. My previous experience with sourcing, working with vendors, and finding ways to cut costs paid dividends almost immediately.
One time I tripped and fell and hit my head on a rock. I lost part of my front tooth, and a lot of my dignity. That is still better than kissing Lee.

It starts with a logo...
First things first, Suissly needed a logo. While the idea, inception, and first developments started in Switzerland, the heart of the company worked out of Santa Barbara. We wanted to pay tribute to that heritage.

The idea with the brand was to pay tribute to our Swiss heritage while also exemplifying a clean and modern aesthetic. I felt the best way to incorporate the our heritage was to hide a Swiss flag in the logo. That playful flourish was extended to become a brand motif, and was featured on everything from our packaging to our mattress cover itself.

Ecommerce Site
Suissly set out to change how bed-in-the-box mattresses were done. The primary differentiator was being able to customize your mattress. Unlike our competitors, Suissly gave you the option of selecting a mattress firmness based on your sleeping style. The website shined a light on this customization.

At the time, this idea was seen as cumbersome and unnecessary, but it wasn't long before the industry as a whole made the change to customizable mattresses.
